Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Steamboat Ski Resort is committed to supporting a more equitable vision for the outdoors. We are only in the infancy stage of creating the foundation for the way we do business; but we acknowledge the enormity of the problem in outdoor recreation and the need to take actions to address diversity and equity, and the way we include people in our industry.

Collaborating with Alterra Mountain Company, we will explore organizations and opportunities that support, promote and activate inclusion in areas where we are invested including skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, traveling and exploring.

In our first action, we are proud to announce a new annual scholarship for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) students at any CMC campus across the state. The Steamboat Ski Resort Scholarship will provide $2500 for studying resort management, ski area operations, tourism or hospitality with the hopes of encouraging BIPOC students to consider our industry for future employment. Details regarding the scholarship and information about how students can apply will be available shortly.

We recognize this is a time to learn and we encourage our staff, guests and community to educate themselves about racism in our country, efforts taking place locally and actions to support diversity, equity and inclusion on a personal level. A few resources we have shared with our staff include:

We will continue to update this space with more information and action items as we move forward.
