Recycling the Demolished Gondola Building

As part of Steamboat’s multi-year Full Steam Ahead project to enhance guest experience, the resort demolished the building that housed the bottom terminal of the Gondola. Steamboat Resort was able to divert 70% of the demolished buildings from the landfill by recycling steel and concrete and office guest furniture, lockers, equipment and even lightbulbs were removed for reuse and/or donated for employee and community use. Steamboat staff also received a piece of the buildings history with holiday gifts in the form of a Gondola cabin ornament, made from recycled glass from the building. The new buildings that will be built in Steamboat Square will also be LEED certified.
